After Amazon, Shopee and Alibaba, Vietnamese goods are getting another route to international consumers through cross-border e-commerce on TikTok Shop, starting with the United States and China. According to the Vietnam E-commerce and Digital Economy Agency (Ministry of Industry and Trade) and TikTok Shop on 3 September, the programme aims to help companies expand online exports.

1. A programme for online exporters

  • 500 companies trained in online exporting.
  • 50 highly ready companies receive in-depth 1:1 support.
  • At least 10 companies aiming at their first 1,000 international orders.
  • Training planned to reach 2,000 companies by 2028.

2. Plenty of room for online exports

In 2025, Vietnam’s online exports reached about USD 2 billion, around 0.4% of total exports of USD 475 billion – showing how much room remains. Yet a new sales channel does not make markets easier.

3. The challenges of exporting through e-commerce

Companies still need digital skills, technical standards, logistics, market research, branding and product localisation. Goods sold online must meet the same legal and technical requirements of the importing market as traditional exports.

4. More touchpoints with world markets

What is changing is not only the sales channel but how companies reach international markets. From trade fairs and Business Matching to cross-border e-commerce, exporters have more ways to bring Vietnamese goods to buyers and consumers worldwide.
